Membrane process for separating gases from gas-liquid charge streams

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6915718
This patent describes the process for separating a gas from a gas-liquid charge. It comprises maintaining, as a non-porous membrane separating layer, a membrane of the polymeric reaction product of a poly oxyalkylene polyamine and a dissocyanate; passing into contact with the charge side of the membrane a gas-liquid charge; maintaining a pressure drop access the membrane whereby maintaining at least a portion of the gas of the gas-liquid charge passes through the membrane as permeate and the gas-liquid charge is converted to a lean liquid retentate containing less gas than is present in the gas-liquid charge; recovering from the low pressure side of the non-porous membrane separating layer the permeate gas; and recovering from the high pressure side of the non-porous membrane separating layer the lean liquid rentenate containing less gas than is present in the gas-liquid charge.
