We consider the predictions of chiral perturbation theory and heavy-quark symmetry for the decays [ital D][r arrow][ital K][pi][ital [bar l]][nu][sub [ital l]], [ital D][r arrow][pi][pi][ital [bar l]][nu][sub [ital l]], [ital B][r arrow][pi][pi][ital l][bar [nu]][sub [ital l]], and [ital B][r arrow][ital D][pi][ital l][bar [nu]][sub [ital l]] ([ital l]=[ital e] or [mu]).
