OSTI ID:6911882
New training requirements for workers at hazardous waste operations and emergency response personnel are in the process of being finalized. These requirements, written by OSHA under a SARA mandate, went into effect March 16, 1987 but have undergone several changes since initial publication. The requirements cover a broad group of people and facilities, and compliance in some cases may become complicated. This article addresses the general requirements of this Standard (29 CFR 1910.120) but focuses specifically on the training requirements and how they apply to different categories of workers. In addition, tips on implementation of these training requirements are provided, with insight on how to make material meaningful and interesting.
