This patent describes a method for attenuating multiple reflection events in seismic data. It comprises: sorting the seismic data into common endpoint gathers of seismic signals; time-delay correcting each common endpoint gather of seismic signals for selected velocities and dip angles and aligning selected multiple reflection events therein; and two-dimensional filtering the moveout corrected seismic signals to attenuate aligned selected multiple events and obtain enhanced seismic signals.
