World directory of energy information. Vol. 3: The Americas, including the Caribbean
This is the third in a three-volume series of reference books that, together, provide energy information about nearly every country outside the Soviet bloc. In the Western Hemisphere, Canada and the United States are clearly distinct. These two countries have a much higher level of economic development, larger-scale energy supply industries, and a higher energy consumption per capita than the world average. The information here is structured in four parts. Part one, ''International Framework,'' contains summary information for the hemisphere. Part two, ''Country Reviews,'' provides profiles of Canada, the United States, and 23 countries in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean (a survey of the energy situation in the many smaller islands in the Caribbean is included). The energy scene in each province or state is reviewed separately. Part three briefly describes 473 organizations involved in energy exploration, production, transmission, and distribution. Part four is a bibliography of more than 700 publications on energy matters.
