This patent describes an improvement in a method for synthesizing a crystalline silicate having the structure of ZSM-11 exhibiting a characteristic x-ray diffraction pattern. It comprises preparing a mixture capable of forming the silicate, the mixture comprising a source of alkali metal cations (M), a source of silicon and water, maintaining the mixture under sufficient conditions until crystals of the silicate are formed and recovering the crystalline silicate having the structure of ZSM-11. The improvement is that the mixture further comprises octyalmine (R) and seed crystals of ZSM-11 structure, the mixture having a composition, in terms of mole ratios, within the following ranges: SiO{sub 2}/Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} = 40--2000, H{sub 2}O/SiO{sub 2} = 5--50, OH{sup {minus}1}/SiO{sub 2} = 0.05--0.5, M/SiO{sub 2} = 0.05--0.5, R/SiO{sub 2} = 0.03--1.0 the recovered crystalline silicate containing the R and M.
