A coal test program in a pressurized, fluidized-bed, ash-agglomerating process development unit was conducted at the Institute of Gas Technology under the sponsorship of the Gas Research Institute. The overall objective of this test program was to obtain a data base on fluidized-bed ash-agglomerating gasification with United States coals at elevated pressures of up to 300 psig. Three US coals - an Eastern bituminous, a Western subbituminous, and a lignite - were tested in this program. The test program has provided valuable information on the effects of pressure on ash-agglomerating fluidized-bed gasification of US coals.
