The present class of nonoscillatory interpolation schemes applicable to CFD problems is derived from the flux-corrected transport finite-difference advection schemes. It is shown that any known dissipative advection scheme is implementable as an interpolation scheme which retains the formal accuracy of the advection scheme and furnishes the monotonicity of the interpolated variable. The class of interpolators derived encompass schemes with varying levels of accuracy, efficiency, and complexity, as illustrated by idealized examples and applications to atmospheric fluid-dynamics problems. 28 refs.
