The parity- and isospin-forbidden {alpha}{sub 0} decay from {sup 20}Ne{sup *}({ital J}{sup {pi}}=1{sup +}; {ital T}=1; {ital E}{sub {ital x}}=13.482 MeV) to {sup 16}O(g.s.) has been investigated by measurement of the longitudinal analyzing power {ital A}{sub {ital z}} of the reaction {sup 19}F({ital {rvec p}},{alpha}{sub 0}){sup 16}O around the 1{sup +} resonance in {sup 20}Ne{sup *}. With the data, the range for the expected interference effect has been reduced to {ital A}{sub {ital z}}=(15.0{plus minus}7.6){times}10{sup {minus}4} (68% c.l.), significantly smaller than a previous result. An analysis for the new data and those of related experiments has been performed to extract upper limits for the irregular {alpha}{sub 0} width {Gamma}{sub {alpha}0}{sup PNC} and the weak pion nucleon coupling constant {ital f}{sub {pi}}, being smaller than previous theoretical expectations.
