This book presents the paper given at a symposium on the monitoring, control and abatement of pollutants from the combustion of fossil fuels. Topics considered at the symposium included physical coal cleaning, acid rain control, coal desulfurization, coal demineralization, fluidized bed combustors, diesel engines, coal liquids as utility boiler fuels, flue gas desulfurization, the agglomeration of power plant fly ash, the oxidation of sulfur dioxide by hydrogen peroxide, the compositions of particulates released by coal-fired power plants, and the modeling of future emissions of atmospheric pollutants.
