The anodic polarization behavior of 9Cr-1 Mo Ferritic alloy in 0.2M Na/sub 2/SO/sub 4/ solution was investigated by potentiostatic and galvanostatic methods as a function of pH, potential and temperature. The composition depth-profile of anodic oxide film formed at various potentials was also measured by Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA). It was found that different kinds of film were formed depending on applied potentials. The rate of film growth followed the general equation where Q is the film thickness and b is a constant and a function of potential and temperature.
