Proton and neutron transition densities in /sup 6,7/Li from a comparative study of proton and neutron scattering at 24 MeV

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6899127
New elastic and inelastic neutron scattering data for /sup 6/Li (GS (1/sup +/), 2.184 MeV (3/sup +/) levels) and /sup 7/Li (GS (3/2/sup -/), 0.478 MeV (1/2/sup -/), 4.63 MeV (7/2/sup -/)) taken at 24.0 MeV, have been analyzed in conjunction with the existing proton scattering data for these levels at 24.4 MeV. DWBA calculations and Coupled Channel (CCh) calculations are compared with these measurements. The new data allows us to infer that rho/sub n/ = rho/sub p/ in /sup 6/Li and /sup 7/Li, in contrast with the result rho/sub n/ = (N/Z)rho/sub p/ deduced from the earlier proton work. 14 refs., 3 figs., 1 tab.
