Classical description of planar channeling radiation for positrons

Journal Article · · Chin. Phys. Lasers; (United States)
OSTI ID:6897726
Arguments from classical physics are used to transform the equation of motion for channeled particles into a second-order ordinary differential equation containing a nonlinear term. The solution of the equation and the oscillation period of the particles are expressed analytically in terms of the Jacobian elliptic functions and the complete elliptic integral of the first kind. Some important properties of the radiation are discussed, and the maximum radiation energy for positrons and the spectral distribution are calculated. A comparison shows a good agreement between experiment and theory.
