Retarded acid is more efficient (in Spanish)

New laboratory tests clear up some mysteries about acidizing of limestones and dolomites. The direct result has been the development of chemical retarders which help insure that the acid gets to places where it does the most good. Acidizing serves to remedy formation damage, for acidizing interstices or for fracturing. Each type of treatment has its own characteristic form. Acidizing to repair formation damage gives excellent results not only in strata that are soluble in acid but also in sandstone and formations that are semi-soluble. It serves to remove mud and other foreign particles which have penetrated in the pores, thus restoring the natural permeability of the formation. In interstitial acidizing, injection of acid is done by pressures less than that required to fracture the formation. Fracturing with acid, theoretically at least, is the most effective well stimulation for increasing production of homogeneous formations.
