Resin bonded magnets were prepared from Sm[sub 2]Fe[sub 17]N[sub x] compounds and their magnetic properties and stabilities were investigated. The magnetic properties of the Sm[sub 2]Fe[sub 17]N[sub 3] fine powder were; B, = 13.4 kG, H[sub cl] = 8.6 kOe, and (BH)[sub max] = 30.3 MGOe. The bonded magnets showed (BH)[sub max] of 19.4 MGOe, and better stabilities against environmental conditions than Nd-Fe-B magnets. It was found that Sm[sub 2]Fe[sub 17]N[sub x] compounds have potential applications for bonded magnets with high performance.
