Measurement of solids motion in gas fluidized beds. Technical progress report, 1 April 1983-30 June 1984

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6893584

The research reported concerns the measurement of mean and fluctuating velocity distribution and heat transfer in fluidized-bed systems using the Computer-Aided Particle Tracking Facility (CAPTF) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The primary emphasis of the work reported has been the design and construction of a heat transfer probe to measure the heat transfer from immersed tube bundles to the bed. Efforts have been directed towards the completion of the two additional fluidized beds and modification of the existing one. For better understanding of the solids motion in fluidized beds, programs have been written to determine some statistical quantities such as autocorrelations and cross correlations throughout a bed.
