The aurora is defined as the luminous emission of atoms and molecules in the polar upper atmosphere that appears as permanent, ring-shaped belts named the auroral oval around the south and north geomagnetic poles. The electrical generator process produced by the interaction of the earth's magnetic field and the sun's, which powers the aurora, is described.
