Applications of the SHDT stratigraphic high resolution dipmeter to the study of depositional environments

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6892882
The new SHDT Stratigraphic High Resolution Dipmeter Tool has been specifically designed to treat sedimentary problems. This is achieved chiefly thanks to correlations done on two dip curves taken horizontally 3 cm. apart on each of the four tool arm pads, yielding a density of results up to one full order of magnitude higher than with conventional hardware and processing. An improved sonde velocity correction, using accelerometer data to compute instantaneous sonde speed and length of travel along the borehole, greatly increases the coherence of the results and helps salvage data affected by severe hole conditions.
