The First NREL Conference on Thermophotovoltaic Generation of Electricity was organized to assess the technology of this renewable energy source. The conference was sponsored by DOE and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory Director's Development Fund. These proceedings represent the papers presented at the conference. The topics discussed covered many aspects of thermophotovoltaic conversion. There were forty five papers presented at the conference and forty have been abstracted for the Energy and Science Technology database. (AIP)
