Superconducting fluctuations in the high-temperature superconductors: Theory of the dc resistivity in the normal state
- Department of Physics, Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey 08544 (United States)
By assuming that the mean-field transition temperature [ital T][sub [ital m]] is higher than the superconducting transition temperature [ital T][sub [ital c]], and that the scattering between the electrons and impurities is important, we crudely estimate the electric conductivity [sigma][sub [ital a][ital b]] in the [ital ab] plane and [sigma][sub [ital c]] along the [ital c] direction in the high-temperature superconductors. Since the coherence length along the [ital c] direction is unusually short, a metallic temperature dependence of [sigma][sub [ital a][ital b]] and a nonmetallic behavior of [sigma][sub [ital c]] are obtained and their magnitudes are found to be consistent with the experimental data.
