Material balance method
This article presents the GASMBE program. Programmed to calculate the original gas in place in a reservoir using a material balance method, GASMBE is designed to work with Lotus 1-2-3 on IBM compatible computers. The gas material balance procedure is well suited for gas reservoirs with reasonable permeability and significant production of condensate, water, or both. The total gas under reservoir conditions is the total of gas sold plus the gas equivalent of the produced condensate, the original water vapor in the produced gas, and the vented gas from the produced condensate. This program makes these corrections plus allows the engineer to perform a regression analysis for a series of pressure and cumulative productions. GASMBE allows the calculation of the gas in place at each data point, allowing the engineer to judge the accuracy of the data and to determine if there is significant water influx into the reservoir.
