Willingness of Michigan landowners to sell fuelwood

Journal Article · · North. J. Appl. For.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6888222
A postal survey was conducted in 1980 of 516 private forest owners in the northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, with a 75% rate of response. Approximately 20% of the owners holding 35% of the land were willing to sell fuelwood immediately at the market price. A further 25% were willing to sell at a higher price and 20% were willing to sell in the future. Owners of small holdings and absentee landowners were less willing to sell. Improvement of timber stands and wildlife habitat were important non-price incentives to sell fuelwood. 5 references.
