Advanced coal-fueled combustion for residential space heating applications: Phase 1, Final report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6886036
Recent technological developments offer the prospect that coal/liquid mixtures or dry ultrafine coal can be utilized in residential space heating applications. The current program has as its objective the development and performance verification of one or more coal slurry, ultrafine coal dust, or dual-fueled prototype combustors suitable for integration into a residential space heater. This program is organized into two phases: Phase I, Combustor Definition, was to develop and evaluate several combustors; and Phase II, Prototype Verification, is to utilize the results from the first phase to develop and test one or more combustors in the contest of a prototype residential space heater system.
