US/FRG Joint Pebble Bed reactor evaluation. Quarterly report, October 4-December 31, 1976

This is the first informal quarterly report of work conducted by General Atomics as part of the US/FRG Joint Pebble Bed Reactor Evaluation for ERDA/NRA/Reactor Programs. An earlier informal interim report of preliminary HTR-K information was completed and transmitted to the NRA Reactor Programs technical staff on October 15, 1976. Work completed since that date is reported herein. Results are presented in five major task areas: large pebble bed core evaluation; pebble bed fuel cycle evaluation; preliminary review of PCIV in gas-cooled reactor application; FRG pebble bed reactor licensability in the US; and small pebble bed reactor process heat evaluation.
