RELAP5/MOD2 model for surface condensation in the presence of noncondensible gases

In cooperation with the Babcock and Wilcox (B and W) Owners Group, B and W has developed a mechanistic model for RELAP5/MOD2 that will calculate the condensation of steam in the presence of noncondensible gases. Such a process may occur, and may need to be simulated in RELAP5, in steam generator tubes during certain reactor transients such as small loss-of-coolant accidents. The new model has been verified against single tube condensation tests performed by B and W.
