In the threshold stage, the fatigue crack propagation process is very sensitive to the microstructure of materials. This paper analyzes the crack propagation process of high-strength low-alloy dual-phase ferrite/martensite steel as a function of martensite content. It is shown that the extent of crack closure increases as the volume fraction of martensite increases.
