The SHEBA solution assembly has been modified to operate either in a below-ground crypt to provide radiation shielding or aboveground for dosimetry measurements. Other modifications include better solution depth measurements, improved flow control, and possible burst operation capability. SHEBA uses 5% enriched uranyl fluoride fuel and is controlled with a digital process control system. The current status has the mechanical hardware completed and the approval for operations process started. Water tests are underway, and we are working to develop an ultrasonic-level measurements system that will have 0.1-mm resolution at the critical depth of {approximately} 40 cm.
