Nickel contribution to the magnetism of Fe-Ni-Zr metallic glasses

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
/sup 61/Ni Moessbauer measurements have been performed on metallic glasses Fe/sub 80/Ni/sub 10/Zn/sub 10/ and Fe/sub 70/Ni/sub 20/Zn/sub 10/ at 4.2 K. The presence of large hyperfine magnetic fields, which are the same for both glasses, shows that Ni atoms participate in the magnetism of the glasses. The value of the Ni magnetic moment is estimated to be 0.6..mu../sub B/.
