Optical feedback-phase stabilization of a semiconductor laser

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6865185

The phase of optical feedback into a semiconductor laser was stabilized to maintain a minimum linewidth of 2 MHz. The scheme makes use of the linewidth information provided by a 1-MHz-width external resonator. A further reduction in the laser linewidth to 300 kHz can be achieved and stabilized by using an external resonator with a narrower width.
