Asbestos insulation removal at the Shippingport Station Decommissioning Project

The purpose of this paper is to transfer technology developed during the asbestos removal at the Shippingport Station Decommissioning Project (SSDP). The information is provided to assist engineering personnel preparing for asbestos removal. A brief background of the project and its specific considerations are given. Engineering decisions, lessons-learned and recommendations are presented to assist in the avoidance of contracting, safety, and technical difficulties.
