Determination of the width of the gain profile of an iodine laser with the aid of stimulated Brillouin scattering

An experimental determination was made of the ratio of the amplification cross sections at the fundamental and Stokes frequencies in an iodine amplifier with a mirror performing stimulated Brillouin scattering. The time dependences of the width of the gain profile and of the temperature of the active medium were obtained for the first time.
