Fujikawa-type formulation of gauged BRST symmetry for the free bosonic string

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)

A Fujikawa-type formulation of gauged Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) symmetry for the free bosonic string is discussed. It is noticed that the metric under certain conditions can play the role of the antighosts as evident from the recovery of the critical dimension D = 26 in the global BRST limit. This role is crucial in proper understanding of the conformal anomaly via the path-integral method.
