Process for flocculating and settling solids suspended in an aqueous medium and composition for use therein

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6856485
In a process for separating solids in an aqueous media certain specific agglomerating agents are used in the treatment of leach liquors containing slimes or other suspension of solids. The purpose of the treatment is to aid in settling and filtration. Cross-linked polycationic polyelectrodes have been found to be improved flocculating and agglomerating agents. The flocculating agent used in this process consists of a water-dispersible polyacrylamide. Not more than 1% by weight of the copolymerization product is a water-soluble diolefin. After treatment the flocculated solids are allowed to settle.
