Our progress is described in detail in 11 scientific articles, listed under Publications in Sec. III. Our main results are in the following three areas: 1) high-temperature behavior of a hydrogen-metal system; 2) low-temperature behavior of a hydrogen-metal system; 3) transport theory. The progress made during this period has been particularly significant in showing the nature of mechanisms of diffusion. Our advances have made it possible to study some of our long-range objectives put forth in our initial proposal.
