An intermediate bus assembly for a battery system is described comprising: an electrically conductive bus member having a pair of generally flat opposing faces, an electrically non-conductive frame molded around the periphery of the bus member; and strap means integrally formed with the frame for reinforcing the edges of the bus assembly. The strap means comprises elongated straps which connect two opposite sections of the frame and wherein the straps are spaced in parallel along the length of the bus member such that the greatest concentration of the straps occurs in the proximity of the center of the bus member.
