This paper reports the corrosion inhibition of mild steel determined by single-component systems such as K{sub 2}CrO{sub 4}, Na{sub 2}MoO{sub 4}, Na{sub 2}WO{sub 4}, NaH{sub 2}PO{sub 4}, hydroxyethyledine diphosphonic acid (HEDP), NaNO{sub 2} and Na{sub 2}C{sub 2}O{sub 4}, and binary combinations of K{sub 2}CrO{sub 4}/Na{sub 2}MoO{sub 4}/Na{sub 2}WO{sub 4} with HEDP/Na{sub 3}PO{sub 4}/NaNO{sub 2}, with and without coal. Concentrations of inhibitors in the film on the surface of steel samples were determined by electron microprobe.
