EPA-designee Browner: High marks, but industry awaits performance

While Carol M. Browner, President-elect Clinton's pick to heat the Environmental Protection Agency, is getting high marks from environmentalists as a tough but fair regulator and enforcer, industry is hoping she will make good on Clinton's promise to continue to shift from a rigid command and control regulatory approach to a kinder, gentler emphasis on flexibility. Given Clinton's support for elevating the EPA to Cabinet-level status, that may become even more important.
