Fluidized bed steam generating system

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6841869

A fluidized bed stream generating system is described, comprising: an upstanding combustion vessel for containing a recirculating flow of fluid entrained, fine solid particulate material and a dense bed section of limited space in a lower portion of the vessel containing a fluidized, coarse solid particulate material retained in the limited space as the fine solid particulate material moves through the dense bed section; a gas/solid separator adjacent the combustion vessel having an inlet in communication with the outlet of the combustion vessel, an outlet for separated gas and an outlet for separated fine solid particulate material; a convection pass boiler having an inlet for hot gas adjacent an upper end in communication with the outlet for separated gas of the gas/solid separator and an outlet for cooled gas adjacent a lower end; a heat exchanger directly below the boiler and adjacent the combustion vessel having an inlet in communication with the outlet for separated solids of the gas/solid separator and an outlet in communication with the combustion vessel for introducing the recirculating fine slid particulate material to flow upwardly therein.
