Vacuum systems of the LEP injector chain

The Large Electron Positron Storage Ring (LEP), under construction at CERN, will be supplied with particles produced by the newly bulit LEP Injector Linac (LIL) of 600 MeV, followed by an Electron Positron Accumulator (EPA) of 600 MeV; electrons and positrons will be further accelerated to 3.5 GeV in the existing multipurpose Proton Synchrotron (PS) and, finally, to 20 GeV in the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) before injection into LEP.
