Method for removing sulfur dioxide from exhaust gas

Scale is formed in a closed system wherein an exhaust gas containing sulfur dioxide is treated with an aqueous solution containing an organic acid alkali salt to remove the sulfur dioxide in the form of gypsum from the exhaust gas. The method disclosed prevents formation of scale in such a closed system.
