The reaction of acetaldehyde and acetyl radical with atomic hydrogen was studied with a discharge flow tube equipped with an electron-impact mass spectrometer. Experiments were performed under the condition of excess atomic hydrogen at 299 {plus minus} 5 K. A rate constant for the reaction CH{sub 3}CHO + H {yields} CH{sub 3}CO + H{sub 2} (1) of (11 {plus minus}2) {times} 10{sup {minus}14}cm{sup 3} molecule{sup {minus}1} s{sup {minus}1} was obtained.
