As ehv goes underground: O-B has service proved pothead designs ready for the job

In preparation for those who are planning to put ehv underground, an East Coast cable manufacturer has added three special potheads to its indoor laboratory. Their primary purpose will be to terminate ehv cable lengths in accelerated aging and electrical tests using 60-cycle voltages as high as 800 kV. These potheads were designed and built for this specific application and are so advanced in design that many features may not find commercial application for several years.
