As a response to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) amendments of 1984, SCA Chemical Services has upgraded an existing waste treatment center into a state-of-the-art hazardous waste incinerator. The incinerator facility can handle many different types of combustible material including liquid, solid, and semi-solid wastes such as PCBs, solvents, organic residues, halogenated hydrocarbons, pesticides, herbicides, and laboratory waste. The process, described in detail, achieves a 99.9999% destruction efficiency for PCBs and at least 99.99% for all other wastes to meet federal, state and local regulatory guidelines.
