50 kJ repetitively pulsed capacitor bank

A 50 kJ capacitor bank designed for continuous rep-rated operation has been built and tested. The bank is a low inductance dual polarity arrangement with 26 parallel spark gap switches. The multiple switches and isolated capacitor pairs contribute to long life and high operational reliability, which were two primary design goals.
