We reformulate our recent model amplitudes for [ital NN][r arrow][ital NN] elastic scattering and apply them to the calculation of spin observables for [ital pp][r arrow][ital pp] in the intermediate hard-scattering kinematic regime [vert bar][ital t][vert bar][much gt][ital m][sub [ital p]][sup 2] and [vert bar][ital s]/[ital t][vert bar][much gt]1. A program of elastic-scattering experiments with polarized proton beams capable of providing data in this kinematic region can be used to test the foundations of exclusive QCD.
