This study evaluates the efficacy of five treatment methods, alone and in combination, for listed petroleum refinery wastes: mechanical treatment (filtration), solvent extraction, thermal treatment (drying), chemical fixation, and pyrolysis. The use of all the methods resulted in wastes of substantially reduced hazard, as measured by total and leachable concentration of residues in the product solid.
