East Ohio Gas Company helped a local glass plant efficiently capture the radiant heat from a glass furnace to supply hot, dry air at 90/sup 0/F to another section of the plant. By installing a collecting hood, duct work, diffusers, and a fan for $40,000, the plant will save $27,560/y in bills for natural gas previously used to heat the warehouse and machine shop, located 200 ft away from the furnace. This principle could be applied to heat-generating areas such as hood annealing, drying ovens, and reheat furnaces in other industrial plants.
