Comprehensive optimization of gasdynamic laser parameters for maximum gain in the 16. mu. band

A comprehensive theoretical parameter optimization of a mixing-type gasdynamic laser is made for maximum gain in the 16 ..mu.. band, which is realized following lasing at 9 ..mu... It is shown that the highest gain in the 16 ..mu.. band (14.9 m/sup -1/) is reached at the limit where the supersonic flow is disrupted.
