Guidance for use of experimental systems to evaluate effects of stress in marine ecosystems

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6824139

Based on a description, review, and evaluation of representative estuarine and marine microecosystems, recommendations and guidance are provided concerning use of these model systems for investigating ecosystem-level responses to stress. Of the three major types of microecosystems that have been used to simulate marine systems, the outdoor flow-through design appears to be the most realistic for investigating ecosystem-level responses to stress.
