Study of a model with horizontal gauge symmetry at the one-loop level
An eight-quark and eight-lepton model incorporating a horizontal SU(2) gauge symmetry in addition to the standard SU(2)/sub L/ x U(1) symmetry was proposed recently. The present paper studies the following aspects of the model: (i) The mass spectrum and mixing pattern of the scalar fields, (ii) the effective Lagrangian in the general R/sub xi/ gauge, and (iii) the corrections to a number of zeroth-order relations at the one-loop level. It is found that the ..delta..T/sub 3H/Vnot =0 one-loop corrections do not exist. This, in particular, implies that the Cabibbo--Glashow-Iliopoulos-Maiani universality of the weak interactions remains exact through the one-loop level. As another application of the results, we show how the decay ..mu -->..e..gamma.. can be suppressed naturally in the model.
